Found this ad in the Sept./Oct. 1955 issue of Swiss Horological Journal for Girard Perregaux. Two watches are shown, one manual wind, and the other a Gyromatic:
Not sure what George Stephenson's "Rocket" has to do with Girard Perregaux watches, but watch manufacturers were trying all sorts of crazy things in 1950s to get readers' attention.
I have covered Girard Perregaux many times in the past, so I'll just provide a short history here. Girard Perregaux's roots go all the way back to 1791, when Jean-François Bautte started a manufacturing watches in Geneva.
In 1854 watchmaker Constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and two years later in 1856, they Bautte's firm and renamed it Girard & Cie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
