Parking Meter Watches

Found this interesting articles in an issue of Europa Star magazine on parking meter watches:

If you were running low on parking time, the watches would sound an alarm so you could go and plug the meter to avoid a parking ticket.

Other watch manufacturers besides Fremont have made parking meter watches, some with a minute wheel that looks like the indicator on a parking meter.

It's kind of a quaint thought nowadays. Yes, there are still parking meters, but more often you find parking ramps. Some cities have even done away with parking meters because it costs too much money to collect the coins. Other meters have been updated to accept credit cards. Back in the day, a penny would buy you 12 minutes of parking time, but not any more. A penny won't buy anything any more, not even penny candy!
